Malcolm Gladwell Biography

Malcolm Gladwell (Full name: Malcolm Timothy Gladwell) is an English-born Canadian best-selling author.

He is the author of seven books, five of which have become New York Times bestsellers. Some of his most popular books include The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers.

In his books, Gladwell makes use of academic research to explore unexpected outcomes in especially in the fields of sociology and psychology.

Malcolm Gladwell was born on September 3, 1963, in Fareham, UK. His father, Graham Gladwell, was a mathematics professor and his mother, Joyce, was a psychotherapist. Gladwell grew up in Ontario Canada and had an early interest in reading and literature.

He received his bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Toronto in 1984 and then moved to the US to become a journalist. From 1987 to 1996, he covered business and science news for The Washington Post before leaving to join The New Yorker in 1996

While at The New Yorker, two articles he wrote, The Tipping Point and The Coolhunt, generated a lot of interest. These articles later became the basis for his first book, The Tipping Point, published in 2000. Following the success of The Tipping Point, Gladwell wrote Blink (2005) and Outliers (2008). His most recent book is The Bomber Mafia, which came out in 2021.

Gladwell was included in TIME magazine’s list of the ‘100 most influential people’ in 2005. He was also appointed to the Order of Canada in 2011.

In addition to his writing work, he does speaking engagements and he is the host of a podcast called Revisionist History.
