Jeff Goins is an American author, speaker and blogger. He is the author of at least five non-fiction books including best-selling books like The Art of Work and Real Artists Don’t Starve
Jeff Goins was born on March 31, 1983. Although he is originally from Chicago Illinois, US, he currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
Goins graduated from Illinois College in 2005 with a B.A in Spanish and Religion. After graduation, he toured North America and Taiwan as part of a Christian band in 2005 and 2006.
It was during his time in the band that his writing journey began. While touring, he decided to start a blog to share his experiences. As he continued to blog, he realized that he was more interested in writing than music.
Using his blogging experience, he joined a non-profit, Adventures in Missions, in 2007 as a marketing director where he taught missionaries how to blog. In 2010, he started his blog, goinswriter.com. The blog became a success, enabling him to quit his job in 2013 to become a full time blogger, writer and speaker.
He wrote his first book, You Are a Writer, in 2012 followed by Wrecked (2012). Success came with the bestsellers The Art of Work (2015) and Real Artists Don’t Starve (2017).
Goins is a great example of writers who have successfully used blogging to build an audience launch successful writing careers.
